Recently I visited Dentessence Dental Clinic which is located at Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya for teeth scaling and polishing because I have not done these procedures for many years and have lots of plaque build up on my teeth. Parking here was not easy to find but I was lucky to find one in front of the dental clinic. If you have problem finding parking, you can park at the multi-storey car park behind the clinic.
When I entered Dentessence Dental Clinic, I was greeted by the friendly staff. The waiting area was comfortable and clean.

Dr. Ahbirami Supramaniam greeted me and chatted with me. She was very friendly and nice. She did a teeth check up and noticed that my left front tooth was thinning. She asked if I grind my teeth during my sleep. I was not sure about this until I asked my husband who confirmed I do grind my teeth. Teeth guard can be used but it might not be suitable for everyone who grinds their teeth. This is because some people have sleep apnea which causes difficulty in breathing. These people need to grind their teeth to push their jaw forward allowing air for them to breathe. Customized teeth guard is suitable for people without sleep apnea.
Scaling process
Dr. Ahbirami was very gentle when she did the scaling and polishing of my teeth. She noticed that I had more plaque on my left side of my teeth and she knew I use my right side of my teeth to chew my food more often. She said chewing food is a natural cleaning process. Now I will try to remember to use both sides of my teeth to chew food. The scaling process took about 15 to 20 minutes.

After the scaling process, she did my teeth polishing using some mint gel. This was very fast and it took about 5 minutes. After I rinsed my mouth and saw my cleaner teeth, I was satisfied.

Happy to get my teeth scaling and polishing done after so many years. It is recommended to visit the dentist twice a year but I have not been doing that. It is also recommended to use soft toothbrush instead of the medium or hard toothbrush so that the brush would not hurt our gums.
I was here with my five year old son and the dentist did a check up for him too. She later gave him some stickers which made him very happy. My son told me he is not afraid of seeing the dentist and I am glad he liked his first dental checkup. Thank you Dr. Ahbirami.
