When I was a very young girl, I love festive celebrations like Chinese New Year. I did not realized how much preparations my family especially my mom had to do. There is a long list of things we need to do. As I grew older, I helped my mom prepare for Chinese New Year. I still love to celebrate Chinese New Year now but as a mother of 2 young children, I know how much work and preparations need to be done before Chinese New Year.
One of the most important things to do is spring cleaning and hanging all the nice decorations in our house. Spring cleaning for my family includes cleaning the whole house, changing pillow cushions, cleaning the ceiling fans, cleaning the oily kitchen area and lots more. Sometimes it takes us a few days just to do all these. After we do our cleaning, we will buy Chinese New Year decorations to hang and decorate our house. This is more fun as it gives us the Chinese New Year mood.
Shopping for new clothes and groceries is the next thing we do. Usually I will compare prices before I buy to save some money. We usually buy mandarin oranges, CNY cookies, packet drinks, vegetables, fish, prawn, mushrooms and others. My mom makes her own CNY cookies because she said it's healthier without preservatives. Delicious reunion dinner
Recently Panadol Malaysia invited some bloggers for Chinese New Year dinner at Yellow Apron. There was calligraphy activity and Feng Shui talk by Jane Hor to enlighten us about the 12 zodiac animals luck in the year of the dog. It was a great event to learn more about Feng Shui.
